The Perfect Match Blog

The range of LipSense colors is a little overwhelming – with dozens of colors available, new colors being introduced, and retired colors making return appearances regularly, trying to choose the perfect color can make your head spin! Where do you begin?

Well, for starters, let me just say that if you’re wearing it . . . sister, you’re pulling it off! So many people are hesitant to try a bright red lip, for example, because they’re just not sure they can “pull it off.” I’m here to bust that myth. If a color catches your eye, try it and wear it with a confident smile!

There are some tried-and-true methods to finding a color that will flatter your coloring, though. Here’s the method I use.

Choose a color based on your skin tone
There are two sets of skin tones: cool and warm. Generally speaking, there are colors that best flatter each skin tone. To determine your skin tone, consider these factors:

Cool Skin Tone:

  • You tend to burn first, then tan.
  • You look best in silver jewelry and silver tones.
  • Look at the underside of your arm in natural daylight. You have a pink or rosy undertone and blue-tinted veins.

Warm Skin Tone:

  • You tend to tan, not burn.
  • You look best in gold jewelry and gold tones.
  • Look at the underside of your arm in natural daylight. You have a golden or apricot undertone and green-tinted veins.

Got your skin tone figured out? Now, the next step is to find the right colors. Think about the keywords in those descriptions above – they’ll also describe the colors that these skin tones wear best.

Cool skin tones look best in rosy pinks and deep blue-based reds. They can also wear bold colors like blues and violets.

Warm skin tones are flattered by peachy pinks and orange-y reds. Ladies with these skin tones tend to wear orange and yellow well, and those undertones show up in their lip colors as well.

Okay, now let’s find the right LipSense based on this information.

The magic of LipSense . . . mix your colors!

Okay, so what if you still can’t find the perfect match? This is where LipSense sets itself apart from other lip colors . . . you can LAYER our colors to create the perfect shade for yourself! Would you believe me if I told you that all of the colors below were created with just TWO LipSense colors?

Eight Options

It’s true – these colors were all created using just First Love and Dark Pink. Layering LipSense gives you eight different options from just two colors. I recommend selecting a nude and a pink, purple, or red to give yourself plenty of options without breaking the bank.

If you’re still stuck on which color to choose, here are a few of my personal favs as well as my best-selling colors. If you need some additional help choosing, use the text chat feature here on my website . . . I’d love to help you with a customized color match!
